ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The treatment of injured and disabled workers has become a critical issue for employers. The Americans With Disabilities Act ("ADA") and California Fair Employment and Housing Act ("FEHA") are increasingly putting obligations on companies. This workshop, sponsored by Simpson, Garrity, Innes & Jacuzzi, will explore both employers' legal obligations, and practical solutions.
Suppose an employee you manage enters your office one day and declares: "I have found out that I have a disabling condition. I need time-off for treatment. What kind of leave of absence can I expect? Can I work from home? I also need you to alter my work station upon my return. Can you help? What is your policy regarding disabilities? Is your company prepared to tackle these questions? Do your answers change if the employee claims that his job created his disabling condition? This workshop will tackle these issues, and many others regarding injured and disabled workers.
